We are all f*cking up

I crawled, slothlike, into 2022 with a bad bout of cough and cold, all my grand plans for leaping back into post-holiday action all gone awry.

All I could think of was how I had messed up.

But friends…

we are all messing up

Hard.

(And don’t tell me you’re not or never have because I won’t believe it.)

I will keep saying this over and over again until everyone – including my own weird egoistic messed-up perfectionist self – lets it sink in and feel totally 100% okay with things going wrong.

Because things will always go wrong.

And somehow, we will always be okay in the end.

The trick is not getting stuck in the ‘things going wrong’, denying that things go wrong or pretending that those things are actually perfectly fine.

They’re fucking not. And that’s okay.

I’m on a mission to make it okay to be messy.

Actually, not just okay, but desirable, embracing, something we might even fully accept and look forward to with relish.

In my Facebook Group, a very messy life we’re going to Brene-Brown this shit up and get comfortable with being vulnerable, gross and radically shameless with all the things we’ve royally fucked up on. I’m turning #messedup into a movement!

I’m going to start sharing my stories in the group and I hope that as you read about the truly disgusting things I’ve done, it’ll make it just that little bit easier for you to tell your stories too.

Owning and voicing those stories is always the hardest part.

But then we get to move to untangling the mess, unearthing the gold from the ruins, and letting it the fuck go forever.

The magic is in the mess.

And when you find that magic… phew, it’s something else!
