The Greatest Story Ever Told

2 hours, online; 3 hours in person

Whether presenting at conferences, academic events or public engagement activities, researchers are often expected to communicate their work in ways that are both intellectually rigorous and accessible.

This workshop introduces practical strategies for designing engaging and impactful research presentations. Participants will learn how to pinpoint and communicate the core message of their research, structure presentation content clearly and effectively, and create compelling narratives to sustain audience attention and interest.

The session introduces my signature SPARK presentation framework for structuring clear and accessible presentations, which participants will begin to use within the session. They’ll also learn practical tools for refining their content for clarity, simplicity, relevance and audience connection.

Through group discussions, guided exercises and opportunities within the session for direct application, participants will explore how to communicate their research with greater confidence, accessibility and impact across a range of presentation contexts.

By the end of the session, participants will have learned:

  • how to identify and communicate the central message of their research presentation
  • how to structure presentation content in ways that are engaging, clear and accessible
  • practical strategies for communicating complex research to different audiences
  • how to apply the SPARK framework to create clearly structured and impactful research narratives
  • techniques for refining presentation content for greater clarity, relevance and audience impact
